About the show

In 2015, after winning the first prize at the Francisco Viñas Singing Competition in Barcelona, Olga Kulchynska made a bold statement as a rising star on the opera stage. A graduate of the Kyiv Musical College and the National Music Academy of Ukraine, she quickly established herself as one of the most promising young vocalists.

Kulchynska received enthusiastic reviews from critics and audiences for her portrayal of Natasha Rostova in the opera War and Peace, which premiered on March 5, 2023, at the Bavarian State Opera. That same year, she participated in the unconventional opera performance 7 Deaths of Maria Callas, created by the renowned artist Marina Abramović and presented at the Royal Theatre Carré in Amsterdam.

Kulchynska’s performances on leading opera stages in Europe and around the world have earned her recognition as one of the finest lyrical sopranos of her time. She has performed the roles of Ilia in Mozart’s Idomeneo at the Bavarian State Opera, Marfa in Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar’s Bride at the Bolshoi Theatre, as well as Musetta in Puccini’s La Bohème and Liu in Turandot at the Metropolitan Opera. In the 2023/24 season, Kulchynska will make her debut at the Royal Opera House as Micaela in Carmen.

Audiences at the world’s major opera houses, such as the Metropolitan Opera, Zurich Opera House, Bavarian State Opera, Paris National Opera, and Bolshoi Theatre, have greeted her performances with enthusiasm and admiration.
